ABOUT THE PERFORMER

KAITLIN KAUFMAN / PENELOPE THE CLOWN has appeared at Dixon Place, HERE Arts Center, Stonewall Inn, Chinatown Soup, The People's Improv Theater SoloFest, NY Clown Theater Festival at The Brick, Force Majeure at Cobra Club, The Tank, PortFringe Festival, and Fringe PVD. Kaitlin is an award-winning performing artist and theater maker based in Brooklyn, NY. She specializes in red-nose clown, solo performance, and kinesthetic exploration for devising new works. She trained in Lecoq technique at Helikos Scuola Internazionale di Creazione Teatrale with Giovanni Fusetti, Matteo Destro, Elizabeth Baron and Sarah Liane Foster. She has worked for 10 years as a therapeutic clown with Big Apple Circus, Healthy Humor and Laughter League, serving hospitals, nursing homes, psychiatric facilities and medically-supervised summer camps. ​​

ABOUT THE DIRECTOR

ELIZABETH BARON is an award-winning director, collaborative theatre maker, actor, and teacher, who has directed many red nose clown shows, including: Instituto Prama’s Pio Mare… Mare Pio (Italy - various venues), Theatre Infinite’s Hi. (Entering Burned Area) (Edinburgh & Fresno Fringes, and currently at Halifax Fringe), LaLa Theater Company’s Requiem for a Snowflake (Boulder Fringe & various US venues). Other directing, dramaturgy, and/or co-creation includes Gemma Wilcox Productions’ The Wallaby Way, Magical Mystery Detour (currently re-touring the Canadian Fringe), and 52 PickUp, all of which have won multiple awards on the US and Canadian Fringe circuits and toured independently. Additional directing includes co-direction of Adam and Eve on a Raft, opening now at the San Francisco Fringe Festival, and Teatro Fondamenta Nuova’s Marzia Su Roma  (Venice, Italy). Elizabeth holds an MFA in Lecoq Based Actor-Created Theater from LISPA/Naropa University and was pedagogic assistant to Giovanni Fusetti for over 5 years. Liz was part of the permanent faculty at HELIKOS: Scuola Internazionale Di Creazione Teatrale in Florence, Italy and she will be returning to Italy in the Spring of 2019 to teach as part of HELIKOS’ The Pedagogic Journey. Elizabeth runs LaLa Theater Company, teaches all over the US and Europe, and has consulted for many different theater ensembles. Currently based in Santa Cruz, CA (USA).
